Apparently Dr. Benjamin Rush journaled so many personal details about his contemporaries, that the other founding fathers conspired to suppress his legacy. That’s the theory posited by historian and author Stephen Fried, who mined Rush’s copious letters for his book Rush: Revolution, Madness, and the Visionary Doctor Who Became a Founding Father.
Fried appeared recently on the Art of Manliness podcast to promote his book. Yellow Fever in 1777 Philadelphia divided our nascent political class into two factions.
